Wedding photos

We had the photographer over on friday night. His name is Ian de Hoog and he seems like a really good guy. He was really receptive to the things that Adam and I wanted from a photographer and didn't get all weirded out or shake his head and tell us, "well, you really must have these particular things" the way we sometimes get told we must get married in a church, we must get married on a weekend, we must get married in the evening, etc.

We're pretty certain of what we want: a few formal portraits with our families and lots of pictures of people doing people things, but not cheesy posed pictures. Ian has done a lot of what he calls "wedding photojournalism" and his portfolio was really good. He had a lot of great pictures of people just being people instead of looking uncomfortable in their formal clothes. We're still shopping around, but we might go with him.

We're also going to forego the traditional guest book in favour of getting a big picture of us matted with a big mat and having everyone sign it. This way we can hang it in our house and look at it rather than having a guest book boxed up and put away. The engagement photos are included in Ian's fees, so we're going to have a bunch of photos done, including a few formal ones. When they're ready, I'll send you the link to the website and if you want you can order them from there.
